Today we headed from Maytown to Laura via the old coach road. It was to take us 7 hours to do 80 klms. Most of the first part was quite arduous working our way up the escarpment via the old road (if you call it that). How they ever went to these inhospitable place and returned is amazing. We headed out with air-conditioning, satellite phone, and decent suspension. For the entire trip to Laura, we saw one other couple. The photos do not do justice to just how rugged and remote this place is. Note the cutting on the side of a hill cut by pick more then 100 years ago.
Laura has a town named after her.
